Dr. Boyle's Biography
Dr. Kristien Boyle D.A.C.M., LAc., DiplOM. is the founder of the Holistic Wellness Center of the Carolinas where he is the Director of Functional Medicine. He received a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. His post-graduate focus has been in the fields of functional neurology, functional immunology, and functional endocrinology.
Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease through a systems-oriented approach that engages both the practitioner and clinic member in a therapeutic partnership. It shifts the traditional disease-centered focus of conventional medicine to a more patient-centered approach.  This addresses people as a whole, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Dr. Boyle D.A.C.M., LAc., DiplOM. studies the complex interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that influences a person’s long-term health.  As a result, his approach to each clinic member is highly unique and specific to that individual’s needs and goals.
Dr. Boyle D.A.C.M., LAc., DiplOM. is also a licensed acupuncturist in the state of South Carolina, and a nationally board-certified herbalist and acupuncturist. He also has a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine, which is awarded by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine when all four national board exams (acupuncture, herbology, western bio-medicine, and Chinese medicine) are successfully passed. He is renowned for his excellent bedside manner and diagnostic skills.
His additional training includes certificates in Neuro-Acupuncture and Acupoint, homeopathic and vitamin Injection Therapy. Dr. Boyle D.A.C.M., LAc., DiplOM. is also a certified Tension Point Therapist. He has taken many seminars in nutritional therapies, herbology and functional medicine. He has also completed advanced training in the management of Hashimoto’s and other hypothyroid disorders incorporating functional medicine with oriental medicine. His passion is helping patients with thyroid disorders, Hashimoto’s, auto-immune conditions, diabetes, digestive disorders, female endocrine dysfunctions and adrenal disorders using research-based functional medicine. He is highly skilled at interpreting blood work, pathogen screens, mycotoxin panels, nutrigenomic, salivary and stool tests.
