Biography: Dr. Matz DC

Dr. Jeffrey E. Matz, DC, MS, Chiropractic Physician

Dr. Jeffrey E. Matz, DC, MS, is a Board Certified Chiropractic Physician. He is licensed to practice in SC, NC, and GA. Dr. Matz is passionate about integrating his chiropractic knowledge with functional medicine to help patients achieve optimal health.  His focus is on helping our members with hormone imbalances, autoimmune conditions, chronic pain conditions, and diabetes.

Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease through a systems-oriented approach that engages both the practitioner and clinic member in a therapeutic partnership. It shifts the traditional disease-centered focus of conventional medicine to a more patient-centered approach.  This addresses people as a whole, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Dr. Matz studies the complex interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that influences a person’s long-term health.  As a result, his approach to each clinic member is highly unique and specific to that individual’s needs and goals.

Dr. Matz earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree from Life University, with advanced study in applied kinesiology, Thompson, and activator techniques. While at Life, Dr. Matz also earned his Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology. His emphasis was in endurance sports and how to improve performance, decrease the rate of injury, and maximize recovery in athletes. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Clemson University, where he was also a student athlete.

After spending more than six years in Charlotte’s largest group pain management practice – with the past four years as the head chiropractic physician – Dr. Matz decided to join the Holistic Wellness Center of the Carolinas. Over the past few years, Dr. Matz noticed a shift in the world of healthcare. There are an increasing number of people with complex and chronic conditions, and traditional approaches to medicine – specifically drugs and surgeries — don’t seem to be making people any healthier. Dr. Matz is passionate about caring for the “whole person” and getting to the root of their health crises, instead of just putting a bandage over the symptoms of a condition.

Dr. Matz has an expansive knowledge in radiology, sports performance and recovery, congenital and musculoskeletal conditions, nutrition, exercise testing and prescription, physical therapy, pain management, muscle sequencing, and biomechanics with proper neuromuscular function. He has completed continuing education in functional blood chemistries, cervical whiplash diagnosis, treatment, and management, lumbar pathologies proper evaluation and treatment, and acute injury to the shoulder girdle and upper kinetic chain.

Among the thousands of people Dr. Matz has treated include Carolina Panthers football players, PGA Tour and Champions Tour golfers, collegiate athletes, and local and international celebrities. Dr. Matz was a semiprofessional cyclist, and  has competed in triathlons for the last 7 years, including completing an IRONMAN triathlon.

Known for his eagerness to help people and his ability to manage challenging conditions with compassion, Dr. Matz is a valuable addition to the Holistic Wellness Center of the Carolinas team.
